These are my assessment drawings from the first day. From left to right I drew my shoe, face, a perspective drawing and a hand. I used only pencil on all of these sketches.
Still life
These are my still life sketches. On the left is a drawing of a roller and bottle and the right is a cylinder and sphere as well as my value scale. I did these in pencil without using my finger to smear it.
2 Point Perspective
Here are my two point perspective drawings, from left to right it is my worms eye, birds eye, straight on and beneath is just my practice sketch. I used rulers and connected my points to the dots on my horizon line to make an illusion of realism.
One point perspective
Here are my one point perspective drawings. From left to right it is my practice sketches, a street view, and some more practice with shapes other than boxes. I used rulers to connect the points of the drawing to the one dot on the horizon.
Ink drawings and videos
These are my ink drawings/ sketches. Left to right first is my stippling worksheet. I used the stippling technique to recreate the prints on the left of the sheet. Then there is my value charts using stippling, hatching, cross-hatching, and patterns. The next two are the sketches/ practice from the videos we watched. I did some practice until I felt that I got the concept.
Lego Still life
These are my lego still lifes. On the left is the picture reference and the right is my sketch of it.
Final Ink project
These are my six practice sketches, I had kinda already decided I wanted to do The Fox and The Hound because I really liked the sketches I made, so I made very minimal sketches for the headless horseman using just main shapes to get an idea of positioning.
Questions and responses
1. I used stippling on the darker fur on the animals because I didn't want it to be too darkened and i wanted to have control of the gradient. I used hatching on most of the background to get rid of a majority of the white in the piece.
2. I used perspective by making objects more in the foreground lighter and background darker to make it look more fluid. 3.Texture is important to differentiate objects in a piece. Its important that you can see the difference between the grass, mountains, trees and sky. This is why I used a different technique for each. 4. It's important to draw attention to shadows. I made the background trees black to signify that they are in the background and then darkened the inside of the tree and sky to add value all around the piece, so that those trees wouldnt be the first thing brought to your attention. 5. I like the craftsmanship, I think it is fluid and I like how it turned out. 6.If I could redo I would add leaves to the trees and more trees to make the background look more natural because it doesn't really make sense that there aren't any leaves. 7. I did the fox and the hound, and interpreted it in my own way by taking a pose pretty known to the movie and drawing it referencing real foxes and dogs and drawing it in my own style. 8. I think the most important thing i learned about pen and ink techniques was texture of different things like the videos really helped with tree and fur texture. 9. I will have a better understanding of value and texture for future projects by learning from what I did in this project.
